6 Steps to a JFH Renovation
Step 1:
The first step is to contact our office either through our website submission form or by phone. We will discuss your wants, needs and budget to get an idea of what you are looking for. From there, we will schedule our Initial Site Visit in your home so that you can walk us through the space and discuss the changes you would like to make in further detail.
Step 2:
Joel and our Estimator will come to your house to discuss your Renovation Ideas in further detail. We will discuss the types of finishes you are looking for and discuss any particular features your want in your renovation. During this visit, we will also take lots of pictures and notes for us to refer back to so we can recall the space when we prepare your quote.
Step 3:
JFH will prepare a detailed quote for your Renovation based on our conversations from our Initial Site Visit. Once the quote is prepared, JFH will set up an appointment with you in your home to review it in great detail and will answer all of your questions along the way. We will discuss the Contract, Deposit and payment structure processes at this time.
Step 4:
After you have taken some time to review the Quote and have come to a decision, you’ll reach out to us and let us know how you have decided to proceed. If you do decide to proceed with JFH, we will finalize the contract and set your start date!
Step 5:
Start Day! Joel will meet our trades on site and the fun begins! JFH will provide you with weekly updates throughout the process, keeping you updated every step of the way. JFH will be available to answer any question you have along the way, whether on site, by email or over the phone.
Step 6:
You Survived! Our final step is our Final Walk Through. Our goal is to be 100% deficiency free at this point, but we will go through the renovation in great detail with you and make sure everything is up to JFH’s standards. If you’re happy, we’re happy and your renovation is now complete.
Frequently Asked Renovation Questions
Is it better to renovate or build new somewhere else?
It almost always comes down to one thing, do you love your neighbourhood? If you do, then we’d strongly recommend renovating your current home.
If you do not love your neighbourhood, then JFH is happy to help you find a home/home site in a location that you do love and renovate or build your dream home!
How long will my project take and do I need to move out during my renovation?
The length of the project depend on the scope of work involved. Most kitchen and bathrooms will take approx. 10-14 weeks, an addition can take approx. 5-7 months and building a new home can take 10-12 months. JFH will provide you with an estimated timeline for your project and we keep you updated every step of the way.
Your living situation will completely depend on the renovation you are doing. In many cases, our homeowners stay in their homes during Kitchen and Bathroom Renovations, if they’re able to set up a temporary kitchen or have another bathroom to use throughout the renovation. However, if you have a more extensive renovation (ex: 2nd story addition, full home renovation, etc.), you will have to make alternative accommodation arrangements.
How much will it cost to renovate?
Every project will vary depending on selections, size of the project and the scope of work. JFH is more than happy to provide you a free, detailed quote catered to your Renovation Dreams. The first step is scheduling a Site Meeting in your home with JFH to discuss your project in further detail.
